There were reported sightings all over the city and News Five received a number of phone calls.
There was a logical reason Pitt could be in Fairhope.
Pitt has been involved with relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina.
And it so happens a documentary about Katrina was showing Friday at the first Fairhope Film Festival.
What did the festival's director know?
Ryan Robinson said, "I have heard the rumors about Brad Pitt. I do not know if they are true."
We asked the producer and director of that documentary, "Forgotten Coast," what she knew.
Jamie Christensen Johnston said, "I have not seen him, but if he would like to come to my film, that would be fine with me."
We checked the screening room where the movie was going to play: no Brad Pitt.
But there were some people who came to the festival hoping to see him.
Michelle Crocker said she heard "that he was eating at Papa's Pizza and now he's at the film festival."
We went to Papa's Pizza, but one of the workers, Louisa Carnovale, said, "I've seen him on TV, not around here."
Still another person told us he had been in Page and Palette book store.
But Jeanne Raggio at Page and Palette said, "We've not seen him."
However, Raggio said the store had gotten more than a dozen phone calls asking the same question.
For the record, there's still no confirmation that Brad Pitt was actually in Fairhope.
