The life Deborah Byrd and Karen Darring are hoping to save is that of Alletta Jackson. Alletta has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and will need a bone marrow transplant to survive. Her family members aren't a match for her and now her friends are hoping the public will help Alletta in her fight.
Karen Darring says it'll just take a few minutes of your time. "Come down. Take a DNA sample. It's easy. Fill out a form. I know a doctor who has been on the list for 6 years and has not been called. But if you are called, you can save a life."
Deborah Byrd says her involvement in this drive has helped her to realize how important this drive really is. "You can save a child, a mother, a sister, a brother. If it was your child or your family member, you would want every single person on the face of the earth to come forward."
During this drive there will be no charge for you to join the National Marrow Donor Program Registry. Testing is quick and easy. If just involves brushing a swab against the surface of your inner cheek.
You will have two opportunities to get involved in this drive for Alletta Jackson. A donor drive will take place tomorrow at the
