BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - Eight teens accused of taking part in the
notorious videotaped beating of another central Florida teen are
being held on bond.
A judge set bail Friday for each at $30,000 during their first
appearance.
The state attorney's office says seven of the teens will be
tried as adults. The youngest of them is 14. The eighth person is
18-years-old and considered an adult by state law.
They face kidnapping and misdemeanor battery charges. Three also
face a felony charge of witness tampering.
A judge has issued a gag order requiring everyone involved in
the case to keep their mouths shut.
The video has been viewed widely on national TV and the
Internet.

Now they say this Mercades Nichols girl has a past filled with violence and a former boyfriend had to get a restraining order against her after she stabbed him with a pen.

Weren’t her mother and grandmother all over cable news talking about what a sweet kid she was and how she was just helping the other girl out?

First and foremost I want to request that your news station offer my email to the victims family of this horrible crime. I would like to offer my support and help in any way possible to see that the teens responsible get punished to the fullest exent of the law.
These teens who beat this girl up deserve to spend the rest of their lives in jail.
Shame on the psychologists who are suggesting that it could be the fault of myspace or you tube.. violent people have been in our society for a very long time.
my daughter was harassed online on myspace andshe did not go and attack the ones who harassed her.
These teens made a choice to act like animals and they deserve to be severly punished.
The parents how have made the ignorant comments in defending their animal like teens should be punished as well.
I most certainly want to help the family of the victim in any way that I can.

woooaaahhh, they broke the bodily contact rule.  My daughter is big for her age and I am 4’11”.  However I taught my three children who are bigger than me about breaking the bodily contact rule..... I don’t care what the circumstance is you do not make bodily contact with another human being in conversation.  That is my rule “I am the mama” My sons and my daughter have backed down many times based on the bodily contact rule.  These children need a good old fashioned spanking.....God says its okay...spare the rod and spoil the child.

The little brats didn’t like the video cam when it was in their face during the hearing, but sure liked it when they were cowardly beating and taunting one defenseless girl.  The message needs to be loud and clear, just because you are under 18, does not mean you can get away with anything, heck, a 5 year old knows better than that.

And to the parents of these brats, SHAME ON YOU!!!  You are a very big part of the problem of why your kids are in this mess, very obvious, you did not teach your kids about accountability!  Well, they will learn the hard way, Shame on you for failing them and shame on these brats who knew right from wrong.

The parents should be held accountable as well; especially the one who gave the interviews claiming that the victim “asked for it”.  Yes, they will get off with a slap on the wrist and go on behaving like animals.
