WASHINGTON (AP) - Boeing Co. has filed a formal protest of a $35
billion Air Force tanker award it lost to a European rival.
European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. and Northrop Grumman
Corp. won the high-stakes deal to replace 179 air-to-air refueling
tankers. The award is the first of three major Air Force contracts
to replace its entire fleet of nearly 600 aging tankers over the
next 30 years.
Chicago-based Boeing says it filed the protest with the
Goverment Accountability Office because of "irregularities" in
the contract competition.

People that are interested in the real story behind the Boeing KC-767A Tanker Program that sent some people to prison and caused the probable suicide of others should spend some time reading through these pdf files.

RPT-US Air Force made late change to tanker criteria

By Andrea Shalal-Esa

WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Weeks before making a final decision, the U.S. Air Force changed criteria used to assess rival bids from Boeing Co (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Northrop Grumman Corp (NOC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) for new refueling tankers, resulting in a lower score for Northrop, people familiar with the changes said on Thursday.
