NEW YORK (AP) - PBS hopes today's kids will get a charge out of
"The Electric Company" like kids did in the 1970s. PBS is
bringing it back with a new cast, starting next year. The original
series featured Morgan Freeman, Rita Moreno and others. Like it did
in the 1970s, the show is aimed at six to nine or ten year olds and
centers on making reading and grammar fun. Production on the 21st
century version of "The Electric Company" is expected to start
today on the streets of New York City and in a New Jersey studio.
