BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Construction has been completed on a
pedestrian walkway on the Biloxi Bay Bridge, which is on track to
fully open to traffic Monday.
The pedestrian walkway on the U.S. Highway 90 bridge, which was
destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, is to open Thursday.
The $338 million new bridge will have six traffic lanes and
include a shared biking and pedestrian path. It will provide about
95 feet of vertical clearance to accommodate marine traffic.
Mississippi Department of Transportation officials say all three
of the westbound lanes of the bridge have been opened to traffic.
Crews are working on a number of finishing touches on the
bridge, including touchup paint on the railing and the removal of
construction materials and portable offices.
Officials say U.S. 90 will be opened next week for traffic from
Interstate 110 to the Biloxi Bay Bridge.

Years ago we started calling it that when the kids were little, because at a certain speed the rhythm of the road would make you feel like you were in a horse and wagon. Clip Clop, Clip Clop, Clip Clop.....  lol

GiddyUp Bridge, believe it or not, living there from ‘79 until 2002, I never heard it called that. I love it, too bad it’s gone! The new bridge is really a work of art. I can’t drive down the coast without crying but i’ll try to think of some of the good that may come of the devastation.

I am going for a stroll.  What a view.

I will have to check that out!  That would be a pretty good walk.  Was the old fishing bridge that ran parallel to the Giddy Up bridge wiped out too?
