indicted a Spanish Fort man on two murder counts. The charges come
in the deaths of two bicyclists who were struck and killed in
September of last year on a roadway less than two years after he
struck and killed another cyclist.
Investigators allege that 20-year-old Patrick Blake Young
Ballard had alcohol in his system and was driving almost 30 miles
per hour over the speed limit when he struck and killed 46-year-old
William Frederick "Bill" Imle, of Daphne, and 48-year-old Archie
Leroy "Art" Clemons Jr., of Spanish Fort.
Universal malice murder, a killing with extreme indifference to
human life, is a Class A felony carrying a maximum sentence of up
to life in prison under state law.
Ballard has remained in the Baldwin County Correction Center in
lieu of $300,000 since his arrest in September.
