A Memorial service will be held on Saturday for one-month old Zarial Lewis. Police say her mother, 18 year old Geretha Tyese Lewis, confessed to wrapping the baby up in a plastic bag and throwing her away on July 20th. The trash was taken to a landfill in Escambia County, Alabama. Efforts to find the baby's body have been unsuccessful, and Prichard Police along with FBI officials made the difficult decision to halt the search last week. The family says that having this memorial service will help the family begin to cope. "We feel like we need some type of closure so we can start the healing." Jackie Lewis, the baby's grandmother said.
The memorial service will be held tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church.
An honorary burial plot has been set aside for Zarial in case her body is recovered at the Prichard Memorial Cemetery. Right now there's now word when or if the search at the landfill will resume.
