The fire that destroyed a Gulf Shores restaurant was deliberately set according to Gulf Shores Fire Marshal Keith Martin. The arson investigation is now in the hands of the State Fire Marshals office and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms investigators.

Nicks at Gulf Shores burned early yesterday morning. A motorist called 9-1-1 after seeing a fire burning on the front porch of the building. Nick and Cathy Cascario were asleep in an upstairs apartment at the time of the fire but were able to escape.

Restaurant workers told News Five over the past few week’s fire alarms had been disabled, a security gate had been tampered with and the sprinkler system had been turned off.
