Pete Bethune says he start his 24,000 nautical mile quest on March 1st in Valencia, Spain. He will be trying to beat the current record of 75 days set in 1998 by a British skipper.
Bethune's eco-friendly boat, Earthrace, runs solely off of biodiesel and boasts a net zero carbon footprint.
"We're trying to promote the idea that that people can live amazing lives but they can be much better on the environment at the same time," Bethune said. "(People) need to think a little bit more about what they do and for me the big one is bio diesel. I do believe that biodiesel has got an important role to play in our transport energy future."
