Its been about five months since the City of Mobile annexed part of west Mobile, west of Cody Road.
People who live in the area say improvements have been made, but more work needs to be done.
Peggy Miller lives in Mobile Terrace.
She says there are many reasons she's glad the neighborhood was annexed into the City of Mobile: reasons like safety.
Miller says, "There are plenty of streets out here that didn't have street lights."
Mobile City Council Member Gina Gregory represents the Mobile Terrace area.
She says the first order of business "was to put up street lights in the area. That has been done. The area is now well lit. One of the other first things, and high priority things, was to rid the area of drug trafficking and prostitutes."
Miller adds that police "have been doing such a great job on the drugs."
But she acknowledges there's still work to do.
She'd like to see dirt roads paved and drainage improved.
Miller says "I don't worry about the dirt. Its just that they (cars) get stuck. That road (in front of where I live) floods out so bad."
Gregory says the city is putting out a bond issue to raise money to make improvements.
She says, "We're in the process now of doing all the preliminary work: the engineering work, the geo-technical work and some preliminary drainage work to make this happen."
Miller says she'd also like to see ditches cleaned and abandoned houses torn down.
But overall, when asked if it was worth paying higher sales taxes for the improvements, Miller says, "Yes. Lord it has been. It really has been."

I wish they would incorporate the Semmes area they we’re discussing over to Howells Ferry Rd!! We really need the help we get no help from the county and Steve Nodine.
