MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A state official says Hurricane Katrina
recovery in Alabama requires another $100 million from the federal
government to replace damaged or destroyed housing.

Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs Director
Bill Johnson gave that estimate Thursday to the House Financial
Services Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity.

Since the 2005 hurricane, Alabama has received about $95.6
million. But Johnson says more than three-quarters of it remains
unspent due to the time needed to comply with federal regulations.

As usual the state of Alabama contuines to prove it has no regard for it’s citizen’s.  It would rather make interest from this to provide for it’s on folks.  The good Old Boy’s Club is strong and well.

I know of a condo complex near Byrant Stadium @ the Univeristy of Alabama that is being built with money from Hurricane Katrina.  (it is more so taking advantage of some programs that were suppose to be used for business on the gulf coast).

$72 million remains out of $96 million and they want $100 million more? Doesn’t this smell fishy to anyone? What’s the state doing with the money? Leaving it in a bank account to draw interest! And where are they spending the money they have already spent? I haven’t seen any spent in this neck of the woods. I’ve seen what appears to be old houses moved from one flood zone to another flood zone and elevated with FEMA money I presume and then put up for sale.
