News of what happened to Siran Stacy and his family spread fast among the Alabama football family. We spent the day talking with Stacy's former teammates, and a former Crimson Tide coach. One of those teammates, who is now a football coach at Vigor High School, is taking the news very hard. Roosevelt Patterson was fighting back tears as he talked about his close friend, "we just have to stay prayerful for Siran Stacy and his family," said Siran Stacy's former Alabama teammate, Roosevelt Patterson. Stacy was injured in a tragic car accident near Dothan Monday night. He lost his wife and four of his children in the crash.
Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore said he could not express in
words the heartache Alabama athletic officials shared with Stacy's
family and the family of his wife, Ellen Bible Stacy.
Former Alabama quarterback Steadman Shealy said Stacy had turned
his life around in recent years. He said Stacy and his family had
become involved in church activities.
Shealy spent part of Tuesday at the hospital with Stacy's
family.
He said former head coach Gene Stallings also visited the
hospital and that current head coach Nick Saban was among a number
of former players and coaches calling the Stacy relatives.
