ATLANTA (AP) - Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee lead the
nation when it comes to obesity, a new government survey reports.
More than 30 percent of adults in each of those states tipped
the scales, helping to ensure the South remains the nation's
fattest region.
Colorado was the least obese, with about 19 percent fitting that
description. The report is from a state-by-state telephone survey
last year by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in
Atlanta.

thanks carl and good morning to you, the wife and the grand kids if they are visiting.  that is one funny looking critter.

It looks to be either a piece of chicken or rabbit being held over a holding pan, but if you batter it heavy and deep fry it, It would be hard to tell. Good Morning Rosepetal.

Some people are genetically inclined to be heavy and others just lose control of their eating and little exercise. I’m a little of both, I’m a tad over 6 feet and did weight 240 but I’m down to 224 now and it’s a constant battle, every thing taste good to me. On most days I do about an hour and a half of exercise and tread mill outside in the heat to really work up a good sweat hoping to discourage me from eating so much, but I end up just working up an appetite.

Kids used to run, ride bikes, go swimming etc...thats what we did growing up...Nowadays they play nintendo, playstation, stay on the computer, watch t.v. and eat junk.. etc. etc… Physical education is not stressed in school...I know the main priority in school is academics but IMO to teach children about healthy exercise (and require them to perform) is very important...One could make a strong arguement for life and death. Fat folks have more health problems on average that smaller people...thats the bottom line. Not many will ever accept the notion that we Americans have become a very LAZY bunch of people during the last 25 years and it aint getting any better. But hey...Im all for living the way you want and eating what you want..but the kids need to be educated so that as they get older, they can make better, more informed decisions on their diet and exercising activities.

IMO, sometimes its just not food or drink that makes you heavy. Im 5"-5"1 and i weighed in Feb. 2007 178 pounds (I am down to 145,,,YAY!!). Now my brother eats the same way I do and hes about 5"6-5"8 and he is very lean and slim. My mom is like him and my dad is like me. I think genetics or hereditity have a role in some cases.

I don’t understand how people get so big. I used to work at a certain ice cream parlor, and needless to say I gained some weight. But you know what? When my pants got tight, I discontinued my daily cup of ice cream, and started parking further away from places I was going. I didn’t go out and buy bigger pants. I wore the getting-too-tight uncomfortable ones until I lost the weight! I’m 5’8” and I’ve never weighed over 160.

YEA ! I don’t see any thing wrong with being a little heavy! We like helping each other tying our shoes and helping each other getting out of chairs. Gimme a nuther fried chicken and a garbage can lid full of mashed taters ! HMMM HMMm HMMm.  smirk

This whole story is bogus...I was just in the buffet line today and everyone looked ok to me...especially the peach cobbler.
