Mobile County Health Department to hold adult flu shot clinic at Hank Aaron StadiumThe Mobile County Health Department will offer flu shots for people 18 years and older at Hank Aaron Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Appointments are not needed.
Flu shots will be administered in drive-through lanes for vehicles containing individuals who have difficulty walking. Also available will be a “park and walk” feature under the main concourse of the stadium. The flu shots will be $8 each. People wanting shots are asked to bring correct change. Medicare Part “B” insurance will be accepted.
“Annual influenza immunization is recommended for most people to protect against outbreaks, which generally occur from November to March in our state,” Dr. Bernard Eichold, Health Officer, says. “We expect to have an adequate supply of flu vaccine for this season.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the following people should not be vaccinated without first consulting a physician
•People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs
•People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination
•People who developed Guillain-Barré syndrome within six weeks of getting an influenza vaccine
•People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever
