Prosecutors say Patrick Ballard was drunk and speeding when he crashed Bill Imle and Art Clemmons, Jr. on Bromley Road near Stapleton. Both men were killed instantly. Alabama State Troopers say Ballard didn't negotiate a curve, hit the men and was thrown from his vehicle.
Ballard was released Wednesday from the Baldwin County Jail after posting a $300,000 bond.

The 20-year-old Spanish Fort man charged with killing two bicyclists while driving drunk returned to jail today—two days after he was released on bail.

Baldwin County Sheriff Deputies arrested Patrick Blake Young Ballard before noon today at a residence on Buzbee Road after he failed to submit a plan outlining how he would spend his days, said Baldwin County District Attorney Judy Newcomb. Ballard was supposed to submit the plan within 24 hours of his release from the Baldwin County Corrections Center about 12:30 Wednesday morning after he posted a $300,000 bail, law enforcement officials said.
Officials in the District Attorney’s Office originally thought that Ballard was released on Thursday morning, but learned this afternoon that he had actually been out of jail 48 hours, said Assistant District Attorney Hallie Dixon.
Ballard faces two counts of murder for a Sept. 3 incident, in which investigators contend that Ballard stuck and killed William Frederick Imle and Archie Leroy Clemons Jr. while driving drunk and speeding down Bromley Road.
Ballard’s attorney, James Byrd, was out of town today, according to someone who answered the phone at his Mobile office
