A News 5 investigation has uncovered disturbing new details about a man accused of murdering his wife and their baby boy. Michael Woolf is charged with two counts of capital murder after the bodies of his wife,Angel, and their two-year-old son, Ayden, were found inside the family's Semmes home last month. Woolf was in court Wednesday morning where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing. But, court documents obtained by News 5, show Woolf threatened to kill his wife long before the murders happened. Those records show Woolf was arrested and charged in 2004 with domestic violence for assaulting his wife, Angel. We asked his attorney about that arrest, "I don't have any knowledge of that, its something that preceded my representation of Mr. Woolf ," said Woolf's attorney, Ed Blount. The court records obtained by News 5 uncover chilling details about Woolf's 2004 arrest. Records say Woolf hit, choked and bit his wife, Angel, then told her if he goes to jail she and her family will die. We also hear from Angel Woolf in her own words in those same court documents. On May 11, 2004, Angel signed a statement saying her husband, Michael Woolf, accused her of infidelity then began punching and choking her until near unconsciousness. In that same statement, Angel also said Woolf ripped the pockets off her jeans and stole her money. As for Woolf, his capital murder case will now go before a grand jury. A judge has ordered that he stay behind bars for now, with no bond. Click here to see 2004 court document

What is just as chilling to me, is that someone would STAY in a situation like that. There is no excuse for abuse, and no excuse to jeopardize your life and the life of your child. I hope that there will be other women who will see this story and get help from Penelope House or any other women’s shelter to get out of an abusive situation. Even if circumstances aren’t to the point that they were with this young woman in 2004, domestic violence is NOT something that “gets better.“ It is like a boil festering under the surface waiting to erupt. I hope that other women will respect themselves and their children enough to GET OUT, before you are carried out in a body bag. That is not love.
