This morning, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to 4599 Chumuckla Highway, in Pace, Florida, in reference to a possible child abduction. Kimberly Hart, who lives at that address, told deputies that her 5 month old daughter, Alyssa Hart, had been abducted from the back seat of her car. Kimberly Hart stated that she had returned to her house at about 8:10am and pulled up to the back door. Hart then exited her vehicle to unlock the back door prior to removing Alyssa from the back seat to bring her inside. When Hart returned to the vehicle, she found that her daughter was not inside the vehicle. Alyssa’s heart monitor, which she is required to be connected to, was disconnected and remained in the backseat. Numerous deputies, investigators, and crime scene personnel immediately responded to the scene to investigate. During interviews and searches of properties nearby, deputies were led to a house a few miles away that belongs to a grandparent of Alyssa. The house is currently vacant. When deputies searched the house, they located Alyssa on the back porch, unharmed, asleep in her baby carrier. Deputies transported Alyssa back to Hart’s address on Chumuckla Highway where she was reunited with her family. Investigators do not believe that any type of abduction occurred, however they are still conducting interviews with the family to determine how and why Alyssa was left at the other residence.
