An 11 year old girl, an off duty police officer and another man were injured in a traffic accident this morning. Mobile Police say Gregory Coleman was driving on Dauphin Island Parkway when he crossed into the other lane. He collided head on with Chickasaw Police Officer Aden McEvoy's van. McEvoy's 11 year old daughter, Rebecca, was in the back seat. She was ejected. All three were taken to the hospital. Rebecca McEvoy is in critical condition. The cause of the crash hasn't been released, but Mobile Police say they don't believe it was drug or alcohol related.

We (family friends and fellow Police Officers) buried Rebecca yesterday on a cold gloomy day. And even though the skies were grey and the atmosphere was cold and dark, there was warmth for Aden and Reesa through all of the family and friends that attended the service and funeral. I wish to extend my gratitude to Lt. John Spivey with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office for donating his time to play the bagpipes at the graveside, Radney Funeral home for their help with the service and funeral, the Saraland Police Dept. for assisting with traffic as well as working the streets of Chickasaw for several hours so the entire police department here could attend the service, and the rest of my fellow officers with C.P.D. Your assistance made this day as warm and glorious as could be expected for Sgt. McEvoy. Laney Sprewell was also a big big help for Mac with this whole ordeal. Glenn Wickell is probably the best friend Mac could ever ask for. Thanks to all of you for the help. R.Davis 4720

I know what macavoy is going through right now. I just lost my sister last month to an accident. They have done the best thing by donating. it has been a blessing to hear that my sister still lives on through the gift of giving, I will continue to pray that it gets easier to deal with her death.

Mac as we refer to him at work is a super nice guy. It has been different without him here at work with us but as a shift we are carrying on as he wants us too. And although little Rebecca departed this lifetime a couple of days ago, some other child or adult will be able to live on with the use of the organs that Mac and Reesa allowed to be given as donars. We here at the police department will continue to support Mac and Reesa through this entire horrible ordeal. Our prayers will continue to be with the entire family and their friends. Get well soon Mac and be strong for your family as we will be for you God’s blessings be with you sir. Cpl. R. Davis 4720
