WKRG is the proud recipient of three regional Edward R. Murrow awards. WKRG.com has been named Best Broadcast-Affiliated Website. Mobile's Makeover, the station's hour-long documentary on the new multi-billion dollar industries coming to Mobile, received an award for Best Continuing Coverage. WKRG also won an award for Best Spot News Coverage for the station's coverage of a murder investigation in Citronelle.
The Radio-Television News Directors Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow's pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
