FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) - A California woman is recovering after
giving birth to a baby girl, on her front lawn.
Jessica Higgins was driving home from the mall on Tuesday when
little Mary Claire decided to arrive six weeks early.
Higgins called 911 as she arrived at her Fullerton home, but she
had already pushed her daughter out by the time police got there.
They arrived to find the 36-year-old Higgins standing in the
driveway rocking the newborn, who was still attached to the
placenta.
Her husband arrived in time to cut the baby's umbilical cord.
The proud mom says "everything happened so fast." She was on
hold with the doctor's office and her 2-year-old son was asleep in
the backseat when the baby started pushing.
Mary Claire was born at 5 pounds, 11 ounces and is doing fine at
the hospital.
