TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Hillsborough County deputy who was
videotaped dumping a paralyzed man out of his wheelchair onto a
jailhouse floor has turned herself in.
Jail records show Charlette Marshall-Jones was booked into the
Orient Road Jail in Tampa early Saturday morning.
It is the same jail where Marshall-Jones worked. She is accused
of tipping 32-year-old Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair. A
videotape of the incident has been widely circulated.
The 44-year-old was charged with one count of felony abuse of a
disabled person and released after posting $3,500 bail. A phone
message left with an attorney listed in jail records was not
immediately returned Saturday.
Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee called the incident a
"disgrace" Friday and vowed to continue his agency's
investigation.

This is embarassing!!!!  One sees these kinds of things actually happening and can’t help to wonder what else is going on in jails and prisons, but also confirms the abuse, rape and brutality crimes committed towards prisoners here in the U.S. (and no one believes them when they try to speak—because there is no proof).  Unfortunately, these victims have not been able to prove it and correctional staff have abused their authority and gotten away with their crimes when they can very well be the prisoners instead of the authority because they are violating the law themselves.  It would be a positive thing that this case be taken as an example and to proceed to listen to the claims of abuse towards prisoners in our system.  There is a lot more going on…no doubt about that!!!!.  This is a matter that deserves prompt attention…racism has to stop not only towards people of different race, gender, color but also because of their dissability.

This is probably not the first time she has done something like this.  The officer thas is with her is just as guilty.  She did not in any way assist the victim. Had this been a black man and two white women Al Sharpton would have been on the next flight to Tampa.

I wonder what the officer was thinking or was she thinking at all?what made her think she could do this with out any repercussions from her boss or higher ups.It dosen’t bode well for her department on ethics, unless like paul harvey use to say"and here’s the rest of the story”.

I am shocked at this sorry excuse for a humans actions! One more thing, this man was white and disabled. The officer was black. Why isn;t this considered a hate crime? Where is all the media fury!
