ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Children who watch Buzz Lightyear in WaltDisney's Toy Story movies will be able to follow NASA's latest
shuttle flight through the character.
Disney and NASA have agreed to develop a series of online games
and activities corresponding with tomorrow's launch of the shuttle
Discovery. A 12-inch Buzz doll will fly in the payload, spend
several months at the international space station and even be used
in three microgravity experiments.
The idea is to get children interested in the space program
while teaching science, engineering, math and technology. The
activities can be used by schoolteachers or children at home on
their own.
Two tracks are available on the NASA Web site, for children in
kindergarten through second grade or third through sixth grade.
