WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The manager of a minor league baseball teamin Kansas is under a four-game suspension for an on-field tirade
with the home-plate umpire over a called strike.
Wichita Wingnuts manager Kash Beauchamp was ejected
in the second inning of Wednesday's doubleheader nightcap for
arguing with umpire Blake Felix. After Beauchamp left the field,
the Wingnuts went on to beat Sioux Falls 5-2 in the American
Association game.
Beauchamp will be eligible to return to the field Tuesday, when
the Wingnuts open a three-game series in Fort Worth. He also fined
an undisclosed amount.
In his outburst, Beauchamp yelled nose-to-nose at Felix, kicked
dirt, removed his shoes and slammed them to the ground and made a
gesture with his armpit toward the umpire's face.
