SUPREME COURT (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court meets today to issue
opinions and announce whether it has accepted any new cases.
As the court convenes this morning, the justices have 17 cases
left to resolve before the term ends in late June.
Major cases still undecided include a landmark Second Amendment
suit over what the Constitution means by the right to keep and bear
arms. Another case involves a Louisiana law that allows the
execution of people convicted of raping children. And the high
court has yet to rule on a 2-and-a-half-billion dollar judgment
against Exxon Mobil for the Exxon Valdez oil-spill disaster in
1989.
