HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Durham, North Carolina,
say they have arrested the second suspect wanted in the slaying of
University of North Carolina student-body president Eve Carson.
Police say 17-year-old Lawrence Lovette Junior surrendered this
morning to police and SWAT team officers who had surrounded his
house in Hillsborough.
Yesterday, police arrested 21-year-old Demario Atwater of
Durham. He's being held without bond on charges of first-degree
murder.
The 22-year-old Carson was found dead last week, lying on a
street about a mile from campus. She had been shot several times.
Carson was a highly regarded biology and political science major
from Athens, Georgia.
Police had focused their investigation on several ATM and
convenience store surveillance photos.
