MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice will
visit Alabama's capital city Monday. The Birmingham native will
receive the first honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Air
University on Maxwell Air Force Base. Military officials said Rice
will be recognized for her contributions to the fields of
international relations and national security.
The ceremony starts at 9 a.m.

I like the McCain / Rice combination. I think is she will make a good leader in the senate. I think she will capture demographic votes that will otherwise be split.

Polls indicate that a McCain/Rice ticket would be almost unbeatable.  Why is that?

Logic would say otherwise, because McCain’s strengths are in national security and international relations.  His perceived weaknesses have to do with economy and domestic policies.  Given that, a wise vice-presidential choice would be someone with a strong background in economics and business leadership.  Condi Rice has neither of those qualities and she is closely linked to the decisions made during Bush’s tenure.

It is a very interesting dynamic that tells me that people are not voting based upon the issues, but rather on an emotional connection to certain people.  I like Condi Rice, but I do find her possible selection as a running mate a curiosity.
