WASHINGTON (AP) - President George W. Bush says he is impressed
by the skills of the pilots who navigated a commercial aircraft to
an emergency landing in New York's Hudson River and avoided any
causalities.
Bush said the emergency responders who pulled passengers from
the chilly river shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport also
were impressive.
A US Airways pilot guided his jetliner into the river after a
flock of birds knocked out both its engines. Everyone aboard the
Airbus A320 were pulled to safety as the plane slowly sank.
Bush says his administration is coordinating with state and
local officials and that he and wife, Laura, are praying for those
involved.

NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg says police divers had
to rescue some passengers.
Bloomberg says he has spoken with the pilot and a passenger who
claimed to be the last one off the plane. All passengers survived.
The mayor said, "It would appear that the pilot did a masterful
job of landing the plane in the river, and then making sure
everybody got out."
Bloomberg says most of the rescued were picked up right away and
put on police, Coast Guard and ferry boats. He says divers pulled a
few passengers from underwater.
Flight 1549 went down minutes after takeoff from LaGuardia
Airport for Charlotte, N.C., splashing into the river near midtown
Manhattan.

A US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River Thursday (1/15), sending
passengers fleeing for safety in the frigid waters.

New York City firefighters, federal transportation officials and an armada of
boats were responding to the accident. It was not immediately clear if there
were injuries.

The plane was submerged in the icy waters up to the windows, and rescue crews
had opened the door and were pulling passengers in yellow life vests from the
plane. Several boats surrounded the plane, which appeared to be slowly
sinking. The plane had taken off from LaGuardia Airport heading to Charlotte,
North Carolina.

yes allen Praise God for his mercy he showed by giving that pilot widom to land that plane, i did hear where it also had a special feature on it that kept the plane from taking on water after it landed in the hudson.  hope eads gets credit for this plane.

That whole thing is simply amazing!  If that pilot had done one single thing differently, they would still be fishing bodies out of the river.

Who would have thought a few geese could take out such a big aircraft.  I wonder if a Boeing plane would have held together as well….

I’m sure I haven’t seen all the news of the crash but what I have seen is a lot of praise (well deserved) for every hero for the miracle except God. HELLO! Miracle = God ?????
