PORT HARDY, British Columbia (AP) - Two people who survived a
Canadian plane crash were rescued after one of them sent a friend
text messages giving their location.
Five people died in Sunday's crash on northern Vancouver Island.
One of the survivors was injured.
The plane went down on a hillside with dense foliage, making the
wreckage hard to spot. A rescue official says the search "could
have gone on for days" without the information sent by cell phone.
In one text message to his friend, a survivor said he was on a
mountain and could see the search aircraft. The messages were
relayed to rescue crews but it still took several hours to reach
the crash site.
