U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps is now in the historybooks as the winningest Olympic athlete ever, after winning his
10th and 11th career gold medals, and his fifth world record of the
Beijing Games. The milestone came when he won the 200-meter
butterfly event. Phelps later was part of the 800-meter freestyle
relay.
Michael Phelps has become the winningest Olympic
athlete ever, earning his fourth gold medal of the Beijing Games
with a world record in the 200-meter butterfly.
The American touched in 1 minute, 52.03 seconds, breaking his
old mark of 1:52.09 set at last year's world championships in
Australia.
It was Phelps' 10th career gold medal, breaking a tie with Mark
Spitz, Carl Lewis and two others for most golds. He is 4-for-4 so
far, setting world records in each of his events.
Laszlo Cseh of Hungary took the silver in 1:52.70. Takeshi
Matsuda of Japan got the bronze in 1:52.97.

The Olympics are supposed to be about the athletes IMO…They sacrafice alot to be there and they deserve to have fun without any political garbage…What the French swimmers stated was obviously anti-american and IMO they should have been disciplined by the olympic committee…there is no place for that at the Olympics and it should not be tolerated. If an american had said the same thing about another countries athlete…it would have been on every news channel around the world..talking about the americam bully. But as Phelps and his teammates demonstrated…actions speak louder than words..He is fun to watch.
