The search continued today at a West Texas polygamist compound. The state, so far, has taken at least 401 children from the Yearning For Zion Ranch near Eldorado as caseworkers investigate allegations of abuse. Members of the compound belong to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The raid began last week after a call from a 16-year-old girl who claimed she had a child at age 15 to a 50-year-old man. Texas law forbids girls younger than 15 to marry, even if they have permission from their parents. Investigators are collecting cellular phones and are checking files about the children. Some 133 women have left the ranch voluntarily with the children and are being housed at a historic fort in San Angelo while authorities conduct interviews. Authorities say at this time one of their main goals is to keep all of the women and children together. Two men have been arrested on minor charges. Now the problem lies with finding foster homes for the hundreds of children who were rescued from the compound.
