STEPHENVILLE, Texas (AP) - The latest UFO buzz is in Stephenville, Texas, where several dozen people insist they've seen something up there that's unexplainable. One pilot says the thing he spotted last week was a mile long and a ½ mile wide, and made no noise. As he puts it, "It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts." Others have talked about bright lights, and said they saw fighter jets chasing it.
Federal officials insist there's a logical explanation. A spokesman for a local fighter wing says it may have been an illusion caused by two commercial airplanes. He says lights from the planes would seem unusually bright, and may appear orange from the setting sun.
Last year, 14 percent of Americans polled by The Associated Press and Ipsos said they have seen a UFO.
