A Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge found Michael Fisher guilty of the December 2006 murders of Candy and Michael Fisher, Jr. While the judge read his verdict, Fisher jumped up, charged a nearby deputy and reached for his gun.
"He was clearly going for the gun, there was no question about that," said Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Michael Jaconette.
Nicole Burgdorf, Candy's daughter, was in the courtroom as the brawl happened. "(Screaming) He's going to kill me!"
As the struggle ensued, lawyers and security guards swarmed Fisher and tasered him.
Burgdorf said she's still scared about what could have happened. "I was just shaking, I couldn't control my shaking. I was scared to death."
But perhaps the most disturbing to those in the courtroom was what happened as Fisher was escorted out - he left laughing.
Fisher will likely face charges for attempting to grab the deputy's gun, in addition to the mandatory life sentence without parole for the murders.
