ST. LOUIS (AP) - An elderly woman can thank her newspapercarrier for saving her life.
Blanche Roberts spent about four days in her home in Marion,
Illinois, with her right leg pinned underneath the body of her dead
husband. He died of an apparent heart attack after mowing the lawn
last week.
Newspaper carrier Bruce Pitts says he knew something was wrong
when the papers piled up outside their home. He got in through an
unlocked door and found the woman lying helpless.
Pitts describes the 84-year-old woman as frail and petite.
The coroner says her 77-year-old husband was a "good-sized
man."
Relatives say Roberts is doing fine.
