(CNN) Authorities in Louisiana want to make sure New Orleans levees are ready to take
on hurricane season.
So today, the Army Corps of Engineers is simulating hurricane conditions to
test the levees.
Engineers are using the same amount of pressure on the levees that caused them
to fail two years ago.
Dozens of new pumps have been added to the city's canal over the last two
years, in order to hold back a storm surge.
The head of the project believes the pumps will work well in case of a real
hurricane.
