advertising for extras who the Governor of West Virginia says makes
it look like people in his state are inbred or come from carnival
sideshows. The casting call was for people who'd be in a scene set
in a "West Virignia holler." It called for young white girls with
an "other-worldly look," perhaps albinos and that
"regular-looking children" shouldn't apply. The call also looked
for people who are really short or really tall, with unusual body
shapes and physical abnormalities. The producers of the movie
"Shelter" say they're "deeply sorry for the very insensitive
casting call."
