KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - A Key West woman is celebratingValentine's Day with her mother for the first time in nearly 50
years.
Linda Bishop was a teenager when she handed two-year-old Sheri
over to her ex-husband in 1959. Bishop wanted to finish her
education before regaining custody of her daughter.
But Sheri's father never reconnected with Bishop, and the child
wouldn't see her mother again until last summer.
Sheri is now Sheri Cabanas, owner of Weddings Without Worry in
Key West. She started looking for her mother at age 20, and finally
connected with her in July through the Web site reunion.com.
Mother and daughter say they now talk four times a day. Cabanas
flew to San Jose, California, this week to spend Valentine's Day
with her mother.
