UNDATED (AP) - A wide-ranging study on American religious life
suggests that the percentage of Christians in the nation has
declined. And more people say they have no religion at all.
The American Religious Identification Survey reports that more
than three-fourths of U.S. adults call themselves Christians -- a
shrinking percentage owing to sharp declines among mainline
Protestants.
But more than one-third of American adults identify themselves
as evangelical or born-again.
Fifteen percent of respondents said they had no religion -- a
category that increased in every state.
The researchers say their margin of error is plus or minus
one-half of one percent.

Barefoot, I answered your question in my last post. I’m not going to let the politics of a church, or backsliding leaders inhibit my spiritual growth & relationship with GOD.  As a teen I watched our churchs’ beloved preacher (the same man who baptized me) resign due to deacons finding out about a porn and alcohol addiction that he was bringing to work with him. My dad is a wonderful, loving man of GOD. He was nominated for deaconship but couldn’t because my mother left him and I when I was a baby, ending in divorce. My friend’s dad was a deacon and he drank and beat his wife. At a different church, my little brothers Sunday school teacher liked going to the strip club with her husband and they were swingers. I watched a pastor’s wife spread lies and run off a music minister because she was jealous of his younger/prettier/wellliked wife. I could go on and on. I won’t even jump on the issue of Catholic priests. Some people need a support group to guide them, I don’t….....God leads me

kxkx, la France est beaucoup plus coûteux, j’aime les granges en france. oh, oh par la façon dont il y a aucune autre façon de Dieu, mais par Jésus, lui demander d’abord et il vous donnera le désir de votre coeur.

It’s to each it’s own, but just because someone is Catholic doesn’t mean they will go to heaven. It’s what’s in the heart and how much you give to others without anything in return. It makes you feel good inside and God will reward you in heaven. Have you ever noticed that minutes before someone dies, even the non-Christians, the last words are always, “HELP ME GOD”.

Seektruth, You wrote ” I have faith in God, not faith in a group of people who were hired by people with agendas to translate the Bible in to the KJV, koran, etc.
I acknowledge the teaching of Jesus and believe in God. I do not put my faith in man and man wrote and compliled the books we know as the Bible”
How did you learn of the teachings of Jesus? Probably written from the Bible written by these men or from someone who got them from this same Bible. How did you come to learn of God or have faith in Him?  From this same Bible or words of mouth that learn from the Bible. So you are believing pieces or not at all. How do you decide? And of course each person should study the Bible and never follow man but God.

I don’t pick and choose. I understand the themes and points of the passages. And I take into consideration the influence of the culture at that time & place in history. Throughout the course of history, it has sometimes been thought that God’s punishment of Eve was justification for degradation and subjugation of women. Do you believe this was God’s intent, I don’t. But, even today in many religious cultures, women are still treated as second class citizens. Once a religion adopts a specific interpretation, right or wrong, it sticks. That is my point. That these interpretations are also based on culture. Either at the time it was translated or at the time that specific religion adopted that interpretation as truth. I’m not going to accept an interpretation just because the head of my church says it is so. But, that same church tells me if I question what THEY interpret as God’s word, then that is a sin? ORGANIZED RELIGION BECOMES DANGEROUS WHEN PEOPLE STOP THINKING FOR THEMSELVES

seektruth, you say you believe the teachings of Jesus, but question the Bibles written by men. Where do you get the teachings of Jesus if not from these same Bibles. How do you pick and choice what you do and don’t believe because it was written by men you say?

God has nothing to hide

Luke 11:9-10

9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Serve Justice, by saying religion is of God, are you saying ALL religions godly? Or just the one true religion I suppose you practice? From the way you talk I’m sure you can name a few religions that you think are ungodly. Is the Muslim God the same as the Jewish God? Is the Christian God the same as the Catholic God? If so, he sure likes to fight them like pit bulls doesn’t he? There is only one GOD. And he is not christian, muslim, catholic or jewish, he is GOD ALMIGHTY. I have faith in GOD, not faith in a group of people who were HIRED by people with AGENDAS to translate the bible in to the KJV, Koran, etc. I acknowledge the teachings of Jesus and believe in GOD. I do not put my faith in man, and man wrote and compiled the books we know as the bible. Religion, especially Christianity says that it is a sin to doubt or question GOD. That is man’s way of using fear to control the masses from questioning mistranslations & discrepancies they have added to or taken from GODs true word.

Kx, If Hilter makes it to Heaven and you don’t I would hang out with him with great joy, because he would be the better person.

that works for me. i don’t want to have to put up with non-religious frogs in heaven.
