of his arrest has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of threatening
over the Internet to pull off a Virginia Tech-style massacre.
Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, 20-year-old Calin Chi
Wong would avoid prison time. But he would have to surrender his
arsenal of AK-47 assault weapons, other guns and thousands of
rounds of ammunition and be barred from owning firearms in the
future. Wong also would have to serve five years of probation,
undergo mental counseling and perform 150 hours of community
service.
The federal judge hasn't approved the deal, saying he's
concerned by the size of Wong's arsenal. A sentencing date has not
been set.
Wong faces a possible maximum penalty of five years behind bars.
Wong's attorney says his client needs mental and anger
management counseling, not more prison time. Wong has been held
without bond since his April arrest.
