BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Divers have recovered the body of Robert
R. Salter who jumped into the Warrior River while fleeing Jefferson
County sheriff's deputies.
Salter's body was found about 12:45 p.m. Saturday by Walker
County divers close to the spot where he went under, about one mile
south of Port Birmingham.
He fled Wednesday when deputies arrived to arrest him off Black
Creek Camp Road. Salter was wanted for failure to appear on charges
of first-degree receiving stolen property and obscuring the
