FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) - Three members of a military band at Fort
Riley, Kansas, are nursing injuries after a skydiver dropped on
them before a military review.

The skydiver's lines apparently tangled, pulling him about 50
yards off course. The band's leader says his members were waiting
for the start of the review, and heard only a brief rustling of the
parachute before the jumper arrived. A gasp went up from the crowd
of several thousand.

One band member was knocked unconscious, and has a fractured
jaw. Another has minor neck and head injuries and a fractured
ankle, and the third has a minor leg injury. The parachutist
refused treatment.

Some of the band's instruments also took a beating. Two tubas
were destroyed, and a trumpet damaged.

You know what we marines use to chant as we ran around the Airborne’s 101ST. Barracks in the morning on OKINAWA, WHAT FALLS FROM THE SKY ? BIRD S--T. But seeing as this happened in KANSAS, the band probably thought it was one of Boeing’s new tankers coming in for a landing.
