VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - This was no high-speed chase. Police inVancouver, Washington, say a man on riding mower refused to stop
for officers. According to officers, the chase began when a
stranger complained that Stephen Ray Castor rode the mower through
his fence gate and smashed a window with a lawn chair. Police
report Castor was doing about three miles an hour on his mower and
wouldn't pull over. Authorities say an officer grabbed Castor and
pulled him off the machine when he drove toward the officer. Castor
is being held on $40,000 bail and is due in court tomorrow.
Prosecutors say he could face a number of serious charges, and are
considering whether he can be charged with drunken lawn mower
driving.
