NEW YORK (AP) — Hackers took over and defaced Comcast Corp.'s Web portal for several hours overnight, leaving a cryptic message on the site that the company's 14.1 million subscribers use to access e-mail, news and technical support.

The front page of Comcast.net went down shortly before 11 p.m. EDT Wednesday and was replaced with a note saying the hackers had "RoXed" Comcast, according to postings at BroadbandReports.com.

Comcast spokeswoman Jennifer Khoury said late Thursday morning that the hijacking had been reversed, but some users were still unable to access Comcast.net and Web-based e-mail.

There was no indication that e-mail or other private information was compromised by the attack, Comcast said.

The hackers appeared to have seized control of the Comcast.net domain name at registrar Network Solutions Inc. and redirected it to other servers, Khoury said.

"We have alerted law enforcement authorities and are working in conjunction with them," Khoury said.

try clicking on control panel,then internet options,then browsing history,select delete temporary internet files,then cookies.close the window and then scan for a virus or malware(assuming you have virus protection) if you have either it usually gives the option to fix or contain.check to see if you have two firewalls (internet options) virus protection program and windows. if both active for some reason,could block access to some sites.since you are able to post here,your modem is probably ok. Do a cold shut down(turn the power off for about a minute). Start back up! you’ll have to sign back in on all the sites you visit. If nothing changes call comcast to see if they still have problems. I’ve had changes made in some of my settings when i have made a download from a site without knowing it, or automatic updates. At least your pc should be a little faster after cleaning out all the temporary files and old cookies. good luck.

Get a life. There is no place for your racial slurs on here. Secondly if her internet has been down for two weeks I would think that most likely she has a hardware problem (possibly with her modem) and would need to have a service tech come out and diagnois and fix her problem.

It is sad that a simple story about computers has to turn into a all out racial riot. KxVx find something constructive to do with your time. (Maybe a therapist would be helpful)

Why must we assume her name is a racial slur? You are obiously looking for an excuse to start trouble. When I saw it, I didn’t think anything of it. But I agree, she does at least need to call tech support!
