PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia police commissioner hasdecided to fire four officers and discipline four others over the
videotaped beating of three shooting suspects.
Commissioner Charles Ramsey says the decision was made after a detailed review of the enhanced videotape. Some officers kicked andbeat the suspects, who had been pulled from a car during a traffic
stop two weeks ago as a TV helicopter taped the confrontation.
Two of the officers are relatively new to the force and can be
fired immediately. Two others are being suspended for 30 days with
intent to dismiss.
Three other officers are being suspended and one sergeant is
being demoted.
