TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say two Pasco County sheriff'sdeputies have been arrested on federal drug charges.
A Hillsborough County Jail official says 38-year-old Cpl. Rodney
Philon, a jail deputy, and 34-year-old Cpl. Don Riggans, a patrol
deputy, both face the charge of manufacture, distributing dispensed
possession of a controlled substance. They have no bail set and the
names of their attorneys were not immediately known.
The Tampa Tribune reports Philon was arrested after a standoff
at his house, while Riggans came into work and arrested.
Sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin says both have been fired.
Telephone messages left for the U.S. Attorney's Office
spokesman, the Tampa Police and the Drug Enforcement
Administration, were not immediately returned.
