restoration project are about to begin building 22 linear miles of
levee to contain the largest free-stranding, aboveground reservoir
in the world.
The pool will hold as much as 62 billion gallons of water and
remove phosphorous and harmful nutrients. The clean water will then
flow into the Everglades to sustain wildlife and preserve
endangered species.
The project has been delayed for eight years, but Congress has

support for Everglades restoration. This week they will show off
the preliminary work to David Obey, chairman of the House
Appropriations Committee.
