DENVER (AP) - Disgraced pastor Ted Haggard says he wanted his
wife to divorce him after a sex scandal involving another man, but
she refused.
Haggard made the comments in a two-part episode of the
syndicated television show "Divorce Court" to be broadcast April
1-2. The show released a partial transcript Tuesday.
Haggard resigned as pastor of New Life Church in Colorado
Springs and as president of the National Association of
Evangelicals after a male prostitute alleged a cash-for-sex
relationship with him in 2006.
Haggard confessed to "sexual immorality."
Both Haggard and his wife Gayle appear on "Divorce Court," but
her comments about the possibility of a divorce weren't released.
Haggard says he had become so "toxic" that he thought a
divorce was best for his wife and children. He said she replied,
"No way. I'm not going to do that."

The story of Ted Haggard, a man blessed by God, is so sad. God blessed him by making his gay and yet he refuses to accept it because society is so warped. Blessed is the man not defiled by a woman. Ted Haggard could have been one of those men. His weakness to ‘fit in’ cost him a great opportunity to be a blessing to others. He could have spread the Word of God and taught the horrors of being near women in anything but a ‘friendly’ way. Hopefully, he wises us. Accepts his blessing. Divorces. Teaching men to not date or marry or look at the other being in lustful way. Come on Ted Haggard. Stop being weak.
