SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - California today becomes only the second
state in the nation after Massachusetts to allow gays to get
married.
Last month's ruling by the state Supreme Court kicks in at 5:01
p.m. Pacific time.
Some counties will be keeping their clerk's offices open late to
accommodate same-sex couples eager to legalize their unions.
Among the first to wed will be Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin.
Martin is 87 and Lyon is 84 and they've been a couple for more than
a-half century. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom will perform their
marriage at City Hall, honoring them for their long relationship
and as pioneers of the gay rights movement.
Back in the '50s when they met, "gay" was a kind of secret
code word. A real lesbian could get arrested, fired from her job
and even committed for electroshock treatment if caught dancing
with another woman at a bar.
A close friend says Lyon and Martin have been committed to the
idea that people in committed relationships deserve to have those
relationships respected.

I don’t believe homosexuality is categorized as OK except in the homosexual community. Sodomy and deviant sexual behavior are illegal in most states, but you have to catch them at it. Just because someone chooses to be classified as a gay or homosexual is not illegal, just the acts associated with being gay are illegal. I’ve said it before that I believe the media goes overboard in trying to prove they are unbiased on this subject and in some cases actually push this life style. I believe they have the freedom to choose their way of life, But if they are caught in illegal acts, bust them, put them in jail just like everyone else. I don’t condone that life style, and try to discourage it but they have that freedom to choose, although it’s not mine. I don’t believe minors should be exposed to it or to choose on something like this until of legal age.

It says in the Bible that it is an aboniation. No one is born that way, The devil is in them and we need to pray for their souls.

Technically, everyone medical professionals treat, should be treated as if they have a communicable disease. Sometimes HIV and other infectious diseases don’t show up for years. But it is for patient protection as well as caregiver protection too. I have heard it can live on surfaces for 72 hours, but so can Hepatitis B. It does not even have to be obviously bloodstained (Hep B) which is why it is now recommended that children get the Hep B vaccine beginning at birth. If they scrape their knee on a piece of playground equipment, that had Hep B on it, they are at risk of contracting the virus. There are a lot of misconceptions about AIDS/HIV-for instance you cannot get it from shaking hands etc. But with more and more “superbugs” evolving, it pays to be careful, no matter what.

I was told about ten years ago that the aids virus could survive 72 hours outside the body and under some conditions could penetrate the latex gloves. this was from a medical professional, has anyone else heard that? this person says he wears two pairs of gloves when treating an aids patient.

Regardless if we like it or not, it’s not gonna stop, so you might as well “go with the flow”! Like I said,I could care less one way or the other. Our opinions are not gonna be the end to all gays. They gonna keep on doing what they do, just like we will.As far as the statement about gays spreading aids, I guess as long as you not gay, and know who your partner sleeps with, you got nothing to worry about. If what you believe is true, they will cause the end to their own kind.

Well the ACLU would be all over that one, to protect the gay rights, but not the straight rights! Same as if it was to be named Straight Pride, as someone earlier mentioned. Woe to us, that dare to step on the lefts toes, but we conservatives better keep our mouths shut-huh?!

I am glad to see other folks share my view on gays, but if we were to have a anti-gay parade how many people would actually show up and support it?

Carl-I can appreciate your non-bias opinion. I follow your post and feel we have similar ideas and thoughts. I find it very hard to label a choice, right or wrong. Call me a part of the old school. I do not believe the Government should limit all choices or remove our right of choice. However, it is the responsibilty of our Goverment to have some control over some Americans choices that adversely impact society as a whole. Illegal drugs or drug abuse is a good example. You can choose to do illegal drugs but it is not legal. The same as it being illegal for same sex marriage in all but two states. This whole issue is a test to see how far these pervs can go? By their own doing have mananged to munipulate people in high places to promote abnormal behavior by actually getting a legal binding marraige approved. That is kinda like getting all of the illegal drug addicts together in one state because illegal drugs are legal in that state. The Gov. should have prevented it.

I don’t much care what two consenting adults want to do with their bodies, but I don’t like that kind of behavior shoved in my face and characterized as being okay.  Keep it private!  You don’t see Straight Pride Parades marching down the street!

Correction-my kids don’t think it’s cool-but some other impressionable minds do. This needs to remain a private act just like the relations between a husband and wife need to remain private. There is too much sex, gay or otherwise being shoved down our throats on TV. If I want to watch that stuff, I’ll rent it on a movie-but otherwise, please take it off the air!
