MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - The first of the so-called "Barbiebandits" duo has been sentenced in Georgia to 10 years in prison
for her role in a bank heist that ended in a shopping spree.
Ashley Miller will only have to serve two years of the sentence,
and must complete the remainder on probation. The 19-year-old
pleaded guilty to theft and drug charges.
One of her co-defendants, Benny Allen - who worked at the bank
as a teller - was sentenced to 10 years to serve five. The judge
imposed an additional penalty on Allen because she said he did not
testify truthfully in the trial of Michael Chastang, another
co-defendant who went to trial and was convicted of his role in the
heist.
The other bandit, Heather Johnston, was expected to be sentenced
later Monday afternoon.
