WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama has effectively clinched the
Democratic presidential nomination, based on an Associated Press
tally of convention delegates.
The tally put Obama over the top Tuesday, ahead of the results
from the day's final primaries in Montana and South Dakota. The
Illinois senator becomes the first black candidate ever to lead his
party into a fall campaign for the White House. Obama outlasted
former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in a historic contest and
now faces Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona for the
presidency.

Determined one,

I never said I would tuck my tail and run from what my pastor said, but I would not tolerate 20 years worth of hate filled messages, unless those were my beliefs too. If he’s too big of a wussy to stand up for something he “supposedly” doesn’t believe in (right), then he’ll have a heck of a time convincing anyone he can do anything other than be a sniveling little “yes” man, taking orders and being a follower, rather than giving orders and being a leader. I cannot believe that he continues to have the support he does. At every turn, he has or his wife have done/said something stupid, that the media blares, then he stumbles around answering questions. That is not leadership. That is BLIND devotion, because people are basing their vote on him, not what he stands for. Because as of yet, he has not defined what he stands for, and then is wishy-washy in what he does say.

determinedone, they caused don imus to lose his job over one statement about a girls basketball team. is don imus a preacher? of course not. but the things rev. wright has been preaching for 20 years are way more offensive than calling some girls what imus called them. obama is WEAK, just like george bush. im not a mccain fan, but he’s not going to take any #### for anyone.

The key word is “apparently”....you don’t know for sure.  That’s like saying someone is GUILTY until being proven INNOCENT.

Obama is running for the highest office in this country. His personal beliefs are very important in how he would try to run this country. Yes, he had a choice to stay or leave, he stayed and apparently condoned what the good Reverend had to say. That’s all I need to know about the man.

I’ve never heard of Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson calling for anybody’s pastor to step down or for a church to be shutdown.  Choosing to fellowship at a particular church is one’s own personal decision.  They would have no right to interfere with that even if it was John McCain. As I stated before, Obama had the choice to stay or to leave. However whatever choice Obama decided to make, he should not be condemned for it. Christians should not be looking for the favor (or approval) of man, but of God only.  So, regardless to what you guys may think about his choice, it is up to God to judge. Please remember that.

I agree working4u. But what bothers me most about Obama is that he is afraid to stand up to his “supporters” at Rev. Wright’s church. He should’ve come out and condemned those statements and left that church long before it hit the media. If that were McCain and a white pastor were spewing that hate speech it would be a completely different story. Where was Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton at when Rev. Wright was spewing this hate speech about white people. I didn’t see them calling for his job and for the church to be shutdown. Probably b/c they were in the pew sitting beside Obama cheering this kind of hate on.

I think what bothers most about Obama has nothing to do with his church. It has to do with the phlosophy of the Democratic Party. He favors raising our taxes, he favor more goverment control, he favors negotiation with terrorist nations, he favors yeilding to terrorist theats, he favors a weak unactive military presence when required for the security of our Liberty, he favors taking from the successful and giving to the unsuccessful, his wife has been ashamed of her country for most of her adult life, he has absolutely zero experience in foriegn affairs, he blames our society for the short comings of minorities, he lacks the working knowledge of world economics and domestic economics.

That is why Obama will not become the President of the United States.

You are correct DETERMINEDONE, and over 652,000 Americans have died to preserve those rights for you and every American! In my opinion, be it ever so humble, OBAMA’s continued presence at the REV. Wright’s church showed a young man’s lack of judgement. To many it meant a tacit approval of what was said, not that he did but as it was viewed by many. My self, I will get up and leave if somewhere and someone starts ranting and raving and preaching hate, regardless if it is kinfolk or a preacher or anyone else. He should have left with his children even if it hurt the feelings of his friend. It doesn’t make him any less of a person, I still like a lot of what he preaches, but in my eyes it made him less desirable for the office of President and probably due to his age induced lack of judgement. A few more years and he’ll be much wiser in these things. That is my opinion as best as I can put it in this allotted space. Your views are as welcomed as any one’s.

rmseek: First, I am ENTITLED to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as an American! Secondly, just because you would leave and find another pastor as soon as he said something that offended you, does not make Obama any less of a person by deciding to stay at his church. I think people forget that pastors are human too. Your pastor is there for guidance but your total faith should not be in him, but in God.  So regardless to what is being spoken from the pulpit, sometimes you have to look above or tune out those things.  I have had situations where my late pastor said things that I didn’t agree with, but I didn’t tuck my tail between my legs and leave.  I tuned it out, prayed to God for my own understanding, and continued to worship Him.  So, Obama should not be found at fault for doing what every Christian should do….praise and give glory to God regardless of the situation.
